You may be wondering how I choose the comics that are featured in the weekly Genre Dive feature. Well, wonder no more because here are my 4 loose rules:
- The comic has updated in the past 30 days and is not completed or on hiatus.
- The comic’s site is user friendly and easy to navigate.
- The comic does not contain a large number of spelling errors and/or typos.
- The comic is not in the top 200 on Top Web Comics or on the first page of likely generic searches.
The main goal of these guidelines is to feature comic artists who are currently producing quality work and have smaller audiences. A secondary goal is to raise awareness of the breadth of subject matter and high quality of many online comics.
It is my hope that by working towards these goals the audience for independent comics online will grow.
